CDP Spring Builder Grants Program ($30K available)
March 12, 2025

TL;DR The Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) Builder Grants program is back for Spring 2025, and we’re thrilled to see what you’ll create next.
The Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) Builder Grants program aims to support and accelerate the development of innovative onchain applications by providing funding, resources, and technical guidance to developers building within the crypto ecosystem. The program is designed to foster experimentation, enhance blockchain infrastructure, and drive adoption of decentralized technologies.
Following the success of previous rounds, we’re launching our Spring Grants program with a focus on surfacing the most innovative builders using AgentKit, CDP’s best-in-class toolkit for building AI Agents, CDP SDK for programmatic onchain interactions, and Onramp for seamlessly converting fiat to crypto. This time, we’re opening the door to projects that push boundaries, especially at the intersection of crypto and AI.
Think outside the box – what can you do with autonomous agents? What becomes possible with a programmatic wallet that couldn’t be done before? How does giving users easy onramping to crypto level up your app?
We’re also open to existing projects that introduce AgentKit and CDP integrations, and will be determining eligibility based solely on the CDP parts of your project.
What we’re looking for
In this season of the grants program, we especially encourage you to push the limits with AgentKit. How autonomous you can make an agent, or how you can plug into other services or protocols to make experiences that would otherwise be impossible? Bonus points if your app is end-user facing instead of at the infrastructure level, and if you add new actions to AgentKit.
We believe AgentKit is best fit for a few key use cases:
Facilitating the agentic commerce revolution by allowing developers to seamlessly plug in fast & free payment and data transfer rails to their agents.
Creating the best crypto user experience by using LLMs to entirely abstract away all the complexities of crypto behind a natural language interface, creating a new distribution and interaction paradigm for protocols.
Crazy experiments that push the boundaries of what autonomous agents can do by allowing them to run on decentralized resilient infrastructure, pay for their hosting and inference, and have unguarded access to financial rails.
Still need inspiration? Here are some base ideas for projects that use AgentKit:
DeFi Personal Assistant: A user chats with an agent acting as their assistant, depositing USDC into the agent’s wallet. Based on the user’s goals and risk tolerance, the agent allocates funds into a basket of RWAs, stables, and DeFi protocols, auto-rebalancing and hiding all complexity from the user. Use an onramp to fund the agent’s wallet via Coinbase Onramp.
Coin-sultant: Need expertise? Connect your agent to the LinkedIn API, have it find experts in a specific field, offer them USDC for a consultation, conduct a call, and summarize their insights for you.
Fully Autonomous DAO: Build an agent that follows the will of its governance token holders, accepting new function calls and integrations from the community. Let the agent create bounties for users to craft its lore, media, songs, etc. Or flip it: a DAO controlled by an agent that offers bounties or contests in its token to achieve goals like AGI, treasury growth, or new functionality.
Onchain Scout: Have your agent analyze emerging onchain communities and make purchase decisions based on their potential.
Agents Playing Games: Create a fully AI-generated casino app filled with random agent characters, each with their own AI-generated games and quirky traits. Think autonomous Hunger Games or a poker game where you bet on personalities.
Prediction Markets: Use agents to govern prediction markets, or let friends spin up markets for quick bets
What is the Spring CDP Builder Grants Program?
The Spring CDP Builder Grants program offers ten $3k USD grants ($30k total). This is the latest iteration of our quarterly grants program, which we do to encourage builders to put our latest and greatest tools to the test.
To be eligible for one of these grants, projects must:
Apply for a grant with your project before the deadline on April 20, 2025 (see below for details)
Build an onchain app using AgentKit, CDP SDK, and/or Onramp
Provide a demo video we can highlight publicly before grants are awarded in May (optionally, include code-alongs we can showcase too!)
(Optional) Join a quick call with the CDP team every couple of weeks to share feedback on CDP products and discuss how we can support you
To receive a grant, your project must be in an MVP state by the April 20 deadline. If you’d like to brainstorm ideas with the team before diving in, we’d love to chat in our Discord.
And that’s it! We’re keeping constraints minimal because we’re excited to see where your creativity takes you.
How to Apply
Grant applications are open here from March 12, 2025, until April 20, 2025, and will be judged based on creativity, utility, and real usage by the CDP team. Grants will be awarded after the application deadline.
View our docs to start building with AgentKit, Onramp, and the CDP SDK, and reach out on Discord with any questions. We can’t wait to see what you ’re going to build!
