Expanse is a public blockchain platform forked from Ethereum that allows users to create and use decentralized blockchain apps. The platform offers unique Dapps that are designed for real-world usage. The Expanse network is open source and decentralized, with substantial industry partnerships ensuring ongoing growth and stability. EggSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that uses the Expanse blockchain for automated market making (AMM). This is a community-run initiative with assistance from the Expanse team.
According to its whitepaper, Expanse is a blockchain that can be programmed. Instead of providing users with a pre-defined set of operations, the platform empowers them to develop their operations of unlimited complexities. Every account's state is tracked on the Expanse blockchain, and all state transitions are exchanges of value and information between accounts. Expanse is a featureless or valuation platform. Entrepreneurs and developers can decide the usage of the platform. However, the platform is suitable for applications that automate direct peer interaction or enable network-wide coordinated group activity. A peer-to-peer network protocol is also included in the platform. Multiple nodes connected to the network maintain and update the Expanse blockchain database.
The Expanse Virtual Machine ("EVM"), which can operate code of any algorithmic complexity, is at the platform's core. Using friendly programming languages modeled after current languages like JavaScript, developers can construct programs that operate on the EVM.
Expanse's cryptocurrency is EXP. EXP is the network's backbone, generated through Proof-of-Work algorithmic mining. The network is a platform for smart contracts, which commonly utilize tokens. In the world of cryptocurrencies, Expanse is unique in that it has utility value as a crypto-fuel, commonly known as "gas." In addition to transaction costs, gas is an integral part, requiring the sender to pay for the computational resources used.
The Expanse platform was launched by Christopher Frank in 2015. Christopher is a full-stack software developer who has worked on unique projects, ranging from online and mobile apps to decentralized autonomous organizations. The total supply of EXP stands at 1.11 million.
