We’re lowering fees for many active traders on Coinbase Advanced

By Coinbase

TL;DR: We’re simplifying and lowering trading fees for many active traders globally, and making lower rates easier to reach, with consolidated fee tiers across Spot & Derivatives in eligible jurisdictions and clearer, easier VIP qualification. Fees matter to our customers, and we're acting on that feedback while continuing to deliver the security, liquidity, and trading experience you expect from Coinbase.

upgraded advanced fees

Today, we’re lowering fees for many active traders on Coinbase Advanced.

Our new fee structure includes substantially lower rates on spot trading for many global clients, and volume tiers now incorporate both spot and derivatives activity. You can also instantly qualify for VIP fees and benefits by holding USDC on the platform, while Coinbase One members continue to earn an unlimited 3.5% APY on USDC.

volume tier chart

Your tier is based on the volume or balance criteria most favourable to you - any can help you achieve improved fees and benefits. Advanced tiers now start at $10,000 in qualifying volume, down from $25,000 – allowing traders to achieve lower fees, sooner. Rates vary by market with the following spot entry level tiers:

  • US: 0.50% maker & 0.90% taker

  • EU and UK: 0.25% maker & 0.50% taker

  • Brazil, India, and other international markets: 0.09% maker & 0.10% taker

These changes complement our already market leading pricing and liquidity with spot crypto trading as low as 0bps/2bps for VIP8 clients.

US stock trading remains commission-free, as do Equity Perps contracts like the US 500 Perp. In eligible international perps markets, we’re introducing maker rebates up to 0.4bps at higher VIP tiers in eligible jurisdictions, and Equity Perps have promotional pricing at 0bps maker & 1bps taker.

“Advanced clients need deep liquidity, reliable execution and broad market access,” said Shannon Kurtas, Senior Director, Product Management at Coinbase. “As we scale the Everything Exchange globally, we’re focused not only on expanding the instruments customers can trade with Coinbase, but on helping clients scale their multi-asset trading more easily. These changes are another investment in enhancing the Coinbase Advanced experience for our active traders.”

Coinbase Advanced is built for traders who want serious control: advanced order types and risk management, powerful charting and modular layouts, capital efficiency and high-performance, direct access to the most liquid global trading across spot and derivatives, all from a single platform.

We've spent over a decade building the security, infrastructure, and liquidity our customers rely on, and as the Everything Exchange scales globally, we're putting that scale to work for active traders: better execution, deeper liquidity, sharper tools, broader market access, and lower fees.

The new fee structure will vary by market and trading volume and will take effect on September 16th.
