Meta Apes operates on the BNB Application Sidechain (BAS), which allows it to have its own dedicated chain, known as the Ape Chain. This allows players to truly own the assets they acquire from dedicating their time and resources into the game. The game features various key components such as building, competition, community, and exploration. Players can grow their city via resource production and management, engage in PvP and PvE battles, collaborate and strategize with other players in their Gang, and travel around the map to discover a world full of surprises.

Meta Apes offers a dual token model - SHELL (utility token) and PEEL (governance & gas token). SHELL serves as the in-game currency, primarily generated by holding NFT fighters, and can be utilized for acquiring in-game items necessary to upgrade the player’s NFT fighters and other in-game resources. PEEL, on the other hand, is the governance and native gas token. All NFT purchases will be used to buy back and burn PEEL. Additionally, PEEL token holders can stake their PEEL and spend it on select critical in-game activities. The game also features NFT fighters that come with unique advantages and utilities, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Meta Apes is a collaborative project made up of professionals from both the gaming and blockchain industries. The team comprises gaming professionals who have worked at renowned companies like Ubisoft, Gameloft, Zynga, EA, AppLovin, and Epic, and blockchain/crypto experts who have been in the space since 2017.
