Parkgene is a blockchain-based parking solutions platform that allows users to book their parking spots at popular places. The platform seeks to allow spot owners to list their available spots on the decentralized application (DApp) PARKGENE. According to the whitepaper, Parkgene is a decentralized ecosystem aimed at connecting parking owners to drivers. Parkgene seeks to help owners and drivers to engage in long-term and short-term rental contracts. The platform intends to end dependency on centralized systems using smart contracts based on the Ethereum network. Parkgene intends to help the drivers to access parking spots at a lower cost and allow parking owners to enable a new revenue stream.
With the DApp, the platform aims to target individuals, professionals, municipal parking owners, and general drivers. Parkgene claims to provide a user-friendly interface, innovative approaches, convenience, and openness to the users. The platform aims to develop the parking industry to raise the quality of life in urban areas. Moreover, Parkgene intends to ensure decentralization by allowing users to customize the platform to suit their requirements and preferences.
GENE is the native cryptocurrency of the Parkgene platform. Built on the ERC-20 architecture, GENE functions as a utility token. Users need GENE to pay the platform for using its services via the two platforms – PARKGENE and PARKGURU. Likewise, Parkgene intends to collect GENE tokens for all other services integrated on the platform. Users can also give away these tokens whenever they wish.
Parkgene was officially launched in May 2018, while the initial whitepaper was launched in September 2017. Initial coin offering (ICO) for the GENE token was conducted in January 2018, and the Beta testing began in February 2018. The Parkgene platform is headed by CEO Ilias Louis Hatzis, COO Giannis Ramfos, CTO John Zarifis, and CFO Nikolas Skarlatos. The GENE token has a maximum total supply of 350,000,000 coins, 10% of which is reserved for the development team and advisers.
