Because it minimizes the number of intermediary servers and dependencies, the Sentinel dVPN protocol provides a high resiliency and security for any consumer-grade VPN framework. The platform also allows dVPN applications built on the Sentinel dVPN framework to use the Sentinel hub for computing power and a sophisticated decentralized node query.
Sentinel subverts the market by allowing a single permissionless platform to become the global center for bandwidth exchange, allowing entrepreneurs to quickly build and maintain an autonomous decentralized VPN ecosystem that uses shared resources instead of centralized counterparts that exist in siloed infrastructures.
The platform envisions a world where every VPN application is built on a decentralized framework such as Sentinel's, using a global bandwidth sharing network. The platform aims to become the protocol that permits bandwidth exchange between the providers and VPNs.
The cryptocurrency Sentinel (DVPN) is based on the Cosmos platform. Users can stake the DVPN token with one or more of Sentinel's many trustworthy validators to protect Sentinel's Cosmos-based Hub and dVPN networks built on Sentinel. Users can earn stake rewards of up to 61 percent APY to secure the Sentinel hub and the dVPN applications developed on top of it. Annual percentage yield (APY) acts as a cryptocurrency savings account where users can deposit their assets and get a fixed rate of return over a stipulated period of time.
